THE WORK

EUGENIO

Eugenio Recuenco is a Spanish photographer, artist and filmmaker.

He is known, among others, for his short film Manuscrit Trouvé Dans L’Oubli (2016), which won more than 30 awards and nominations at international festivals.

He has directed spots for numerous brands such as LOreal, Vanderbilt, Nina Ricci, Ferrero Rocher, Freixenet or Pull&Bear, and since his beginnings he has worked for different fashion magazines (Vogue, Madame Figaro, Stern, GQ, Spoon or Vanity Fair).Another of his facets is that of video clip director, such as Mein Herz Brennt, for the well-known German band Rammstein, in 2007 he was invited to create the Lavazza calendar (in which he would participate again in 2011 and 2021) and that same year he designed the scenery and staging of the opera Les Huguenots, at The Fisher Center in NY.

Recuenco dedicated 8 years to an ambitious personal project, 365º, which consists of 369 photographs, one for each day of the year. All taken in the same space, with a team of more than 300 people behind them, these photographs take a journey through the last 50 years of our time, they are a reflection of our virtues and imperfections as a society and as individuals and a walk through the memories of the artist himself. 365º has been exhibited, as an installation, in different cities around the world (Madrid, Berlin, Bangkok or Taipei are some of them).

His next personal project, The Thousand and One Nights, is intended to be an even greater challenge and will possibly be the most extensive work of his career.

PAZ

Paz Otero, trained in Fine Arts, is in charge of the final image treatment of Eugenio Recuenco’s photographs, being a reference in artistic photographic post-production due to her artistic sensitivity.

He is also a film colorist, but since the beginning of his career he has been developing personal projects linked to fashion, from several collections of shoes to his most current works of jewelry creation in which he uses the latest technology in photographic printing along with noble metals such as silver and gold.

INSPIRATION

Suit inspiration in relation to the SDG: Clothing is the representation of the natural elements that should provide us with affordable and non-polluting energy. Water and especially air. For this we have made the print from two animals, the carp that represents Japan; and the peacock with which we live every day in a park near our home. The print makes us travel from the feathers to the scales that roll up in a whirlwind sensation and end up becoming a windmill. It is made from the work with photographs of two young people, the daughter of William Tell, as a representation of the passive youth that we have been the previous generations, and a manga girl, representing the youth of the future, an active and aware youth.
