MARISA
ATTARD

THE WORK

Born in Malta, Marisa Attard is an artist and illustrator. Her paintings ofen refect the bright light and colours that are part of the Mediterranean climate. MARISA Her sense of humour can be seen through her paintings of people who inhabit a world she keenly observes. Huge, bumbling fgures that defy gravity and appear ATTARD quirky, yet endearing, are coupled with a richness in texture and colour that is created through the medium she employs. Her preferred medium for this style of painting consists of layers of acrylic paint on a textured gesso base, coupled with a collage of various papers and materials that add a certain tactile quality and depth to her paintings.

ARTIST STATEMENT:

Towering above them is a Maltese cityscape that is closing in on ACRYLIC AND COLLAGE itself, keeping them in, restricted. On the front of the gown you can see the change that being part of the EU has brought about for our young people and our future. Tere is an opening in the cityscape, giving us the opportunity to venture out and experience a wider reality, and to exchange ideas and work with others.
