THE WORK

I studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Seville. I have great memories of my time as a student. I was taught the basics of drawing, sculpture and painting. However, the real formation as an artist began later, traveling and getting to know new forms of creation.

Since I was little I knew I wanted to dedicate myself to creation, and my parents supported me; when I was a child I wanted to be a cartoonist to make my own cartoon series. Later I had a time when I wanted to design clothes. Then, in college, I met the three-dimensionality, I was captivated.

Nowadays his discourse is based on travel experiences, his relationship with the environment and his immediate surroundings. He mixes situations, people and common places with imaginary dreamlike environments.

His research work with recycled materials is central to his work, seeking new ways to transform discarded objects. Veredas’ work is a pioneer in the thermo-modeling of plastics and has been shown internationally, for example, at the Cervantes Institute in Munich (Germany), the 102 Gallery in Taipei (Taiwan), or at the Contemporary Art Fair in Yerevan (Armenia).

TITLE

¡Agua Mamá!

TECHNIQUE

Recycled plastic modeling.

INSPIRATION

The intervention in the costume is based on how women and children in Africa have transported drinking water by carrying jerry cans on their heads. Through plastics collected over the years, I created a bubble that represents drinking water. From this bubble comes a conduit that simulates the canalization of this water, as well as its transport to all parts of the world. Drinking water as a source of life, and Mother Nature as a distributor of it.
