Rahima El Arroud born in Tangier, lives and works between her hometown and Tetouan, where she graduated from the National Institute of Fine Arts, where she teaches today. She is a painter and engraver, in fact, she is in charge of printing for artists in the engraving workshop of the French Institute of Tetouan.

Rahima El Arroud is impregnated by the landscapes that surround her and which offer her numerous sources of inspiration for her work. In nature she finds love, femininity, joy and simple forms that create a seductive dynamic on the surface of her paintings.

Her works are colorful and landscaped. Her technique, where the line at first sight is light and the colors, both vertical and horizontal, are parsimonious, reveals the talent of an atypical and singular artist. Her approach is of a delicacy that tends to confuse the viewer. Is it figurative? Is it abstract? She is both. Determined and obstinate, Rahima tirelessly retakes a reduced repertoire of vegetal forms that sometimes invade the entire canvas and at other times appear isolated as if condemned to a sidereal silence.

Tangled, superimposed, displaced in a skillfully worked disorder, the diffuse silhouettes barely revealing a trembling impression or surrounded by a firm or loose line -clearly influenced by her work as an engraver-, these forms have a presence that, beyond simple representation, are a metaphor for life and blossoming.

My work is at the same time a simple and profound theme, which imposed itself naturally and which adopts in this piece the seriousness that characterizes me. Through a plastic approach, which I have made the axis of the whole piece, I have initiated a search that I have undertaken and tirelessly resumed, sincerely, with the love and the same passion that always inspire me.
